Look, I get it. Most of us (if not all of us) that roleplay have off days where we put up a reply or a starter and think, “I didn’t write that as well as I usually do”, or we have doubts about how well we play our characters and need someone to tell us that we’re all right and our writing isn’t shit. That’s fine.

But when you constantly call yourself a shitty roleplayer, when you reblog one of those “Send me a [symbol] if you think I play my character well/if you like my blog/etc.” only to tag it with “I’m not going to get anything at all”, and when you go so far as to receive compliments from people that like your character and your writing style very much and dismiss them with a NO STOP LYING, I’M NOT THAT GREAT, it gets annoying. 

What exactly is going on there? Are you not getting the compliment from the exact person that you want to hear it from, is that why you deny it from others? Do you really think you’re that awful? Do you think it’s necessary to tell the whole world about it every day? Because anyone that sees that can use it against you and send you hate anons validating what you apparently think of yourself, and whenever someone uses your insecurities against you, it is PAINFUL. 

So what is going on? Do you think your hundreds of followers masochistically follow a “shitty” RP blog to laugh at you? Do you have any proof that behind the screen, they grind their teeth and force themselves to roleplay with you? That they ship their character with yours for no real reason? If your posts or your blog is so awful, don’t do anything with it until you improve it to your liking, or don’t talk about how bad it is because you’re going to get disagreements from all sides about that, and when you do get someone disgreeing with your negative opinion, try not making them look like liars and like their words don’t matter.

If compliment-fishing is a personality trait of yours, I’m no longer your personal cheer leader. I don’t have the time anymore for it when I’m trying to have fun. You’re going to have to find confidence in the things you do YOURSELF. If you’re not having fun roleplaying and think that all of your posts, your character, and your writing style are consistently awful, why are you even here? Who are you doing it for if it’s not yourself, and do you realize you can stop this at any time and find something that actually makes you take pride in it? Roleplaying is about having fun, and you should stop it if it’s not for you.
